Problems identified by Fitness Scripts
Delayed plan modifications
A lack of prompt notifications in the plan modifications makes it difficult for users to adapt and align their efforts. This calls for a solution ensuring timely updates for smoother adaption to revised plans.
Finding verified trainers
The challenge to find certified trainers on various platforms creates uncertainty in users to confidently select a suitable trainer and fitness plan. This calls for crafting a trustworthy verification system.
Disorganized fitness tracking
Ineffective fitness plan tracking results in decreased motivation and goal obstruction. A streamlined system is required for for proper progress tracking and organization.
My Approach
Insights from the collaborative discovery sessions
By engaging in discussions with company stakeholders, we were able to identify essential features and functionalities for the FitnessPlans app, revealing valuable user insights.
Fitness app users don't abandon plans because workouts are too hard - they abandon them because they stop seeing themselves moving forward. Progress visibility isn't a feature, it's the entire motivation system.
Users presented with too many plans, filters, and decisions at once disengage before committing to anything. The onboarding experience had to make the first choice feel easy, not overwhelming.
Without verified credentials and transparent track records, users default to free content over paid plans every time. Trust had to be designed in — not assumed.
Intuitive navigation patterns
Focused on information architecture and user flow which resulted in
the development of a robust navigation framework, providing users with
a self-guided and seamless experience on the platform.

Plan Creation Flow
Structuring user journey through wireframing
Created wireframes to visualize the platform’s layout and structure, providing
a clear representation of its navigation and user interface. Wireframing helped
to identify potential usability issues to be addressed before development begins,
resulting in a more user-friendly experience.
Setting the visual tone
In the visual design stage, we explored various design options and experimented with different layouts, colours, fonts, and other visual elements. Throughout the visual design stage, we regularly took feedback from stakeholders. The feedback helped us refine and
deliver final visuals that meet clients’ requirements.

Explore plans of different
categories
User can find plans based on different
categories to achieve their fitness goal
Find verified trainers

their plans easily

Web App for trainers

Outcomes
Fitness Script was designed from a blank canvas in one month no existing product, no prior design to reference.
Scope covered the full user-side mobile app, trainer-side web app, and UI kit 50+ screens across two platforms, delivered solo.
Core challenge: creating a visual language energetic enough to sustain motivation without sacrificing usability.
Client approved in a single review cycle with no major revision requests - visual style, prototype feel, and feature flows all exceeded initial expectations.
Given more time, progress tracking would have gone deeper that's where fitness apps are truly won or lost.

What did I learn from this project?
Designing a fitness app in one month taught me that visual energy is a design decision, not just an aesthetic choice. Users open a fitness app when their motivation is already fragile - they need the interface to meet that energy, not dampen it. Every color, every transition, every piece of copy had to earn its place by either building confidence or sustaining momentum. The one thing I'd do differently: spend more time on the progress tracking experience. That's where fitness apps are won or lost and one month wasn't enough to explore it as deeply as it deserved.
